Bob Rajan is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in Munich. He oversees the firm’s European PEPI group. Mr. Rajan brings over 25 years of experience in interim management, management boards and NED positions, advising companies on financial and operational issues. Currently, Mr. Rajan serves as the interim Chief Financial Officer of a PE owned global industrial company, working with management on a financial restructuring and operational turnaround. He brings expertise in the industrial, automotive and retail sectors. Previously, Mr. Rajan served on the Board of Swissport during its turnaround. Before that, he was an NED of a heat-exchanger company; advised a publicly listed Swiss company with its turnaround; served as interim CFO of a PE backed multi-billion cosmetics retailer; and was interim CFO of a multi-billion global PE owned global market research company, transforming the organisation to become a predictive data analytics company while executing a multi-country carve-out. Mr. Rajan has advised portfolio companies on their target operating models, cost reduction, commercial growth and has negotiated with works councils. He also served as interim CFO of a global fashion retailer, assisting with their transformation plan; interim CFO/CRO of a large retail apparel chain, building its value creation plan in Europe and Asia; and interim CFO/CRO and board member of a global Tier 1 automotive supplier, working through a turnaround that closed and consolidated operations in Germany, Spain and Italy. Mr. Rajan has also provided expert witness testimony in restructurings in multiple jurisdictions. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Rajan was a Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York and Toronto, targeting underperforming clients in North and Latin America. He has also worked in the Middle East and Asia. Mr. Rajan earned a bachelor’s degree in biophysics (honors) from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the University of Toronto. He was named one of the top restructuring advisors in the inaugural Who’s Who of Restructuring, is a certified financial analyst, certified public accountant, certified insolvency and restructuring accountant and is certified in financial forensics. Mr. Rajan is a guest lecturer for the INSOL Fellowship program, regularly lectures in restructuring conferences and business schools, and is fluent in German and proficient in French and Spanish.
