Andreas Schmitz is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Transaction Advisory Group in Frankfurt. He specializes in transaction advisory services and counsels private equity and corporate clients on domestic and cross-border buy-side and vendor due diligence, carve-outs and in the preparation of closing accounts. Mr. Schmitz brings more than 21 years of experience and has worked on over 300 projects across a range of industries, including manufacturing, chemical, telecommunication, e-commerce and retail. He has served as a project manager and key client contact for numerous vendor and buy-side due diligence transactions, ranging from €10 million to €10 billion, for financial investors and corporate buyers in Germany, Europe, North America and Japan. Recently, Mr. Schmitz has worked on a number of transactions, including the buy-side due diligence/acquisition of Cloudflight by Partners Group, Akquinet AG by Deutsche Beteiligungs, Freiheit technologies.com by Deutsche Beteiligungs AG, Innosoft AB and ACHAB S.P.A. by Ebert-Lang/Vortex Beteiligungs GmbH, Adcubum AG by TA Associates and BSW Timber by Binder Beteiligungs AG. Additionally, he has been involved in sell-side services for Deutsche Beteiligungs AG on their divestment of Telio Group and Adiuva Capital on their divestment of Goetel Group. Mr. Schmitz also worked on the acquisition of Multimon Group by Deutsche Beteiligungs AG, Congatec Holding AG by Deutsch Beteiligungs AG and Ebert-Lang (IT-retail) by HQ Equita. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Schmitz spent nine years with Deloitte & Touche, including two years in New York. During his time at Deloitte, he advised a wide number of private equity sponsors, including KKR, Blackstone, Advent International, Hg Capital and Montagu as well as corporate clients, including Siemens, Deutsche Telekom, Danaher and Curtiss-Wright. Mr. Schmitz earned an MBA (concentration in international accounting, taxation and English) from the University of Passau. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Washington. A German national, Mr. Schmitz is fluent in German, English and conversational in Spanish.
