Bio

Alex Gass is a Senior Director with Alvarez and Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in San Francisco. He brings extensive experience working for private equity and corporate clients to drive transaction related value creation, organizational design and operational excellence, with an emphasis on cost optimization and margin enhancement. Mr. Gass brings deep experience in technology and software tailored EBITDA value creation projects. He specializes in advising technology, media and telecom clients in the areas of operational improvement, post-merger integration, divestiture, due diligence, organizational design, financial planning and analysis and third party spend optimization. Additionally, Mr. Gass has worked extensively for PE sponsored transactions across all functions and the deal lifecycle, with deep experience in R&D and G&A functions. He is uniquely positioned to lead multi-million-dollar scale cost out transformation programs. Recent examples include achieving ~$50 million EBITDA improvement for a ~$2 billion revenue cybersecurity software merger; delivering an operational transformation program for an A&D Satcom business to reduce cost by 35% in 12 weeks; and leading the transformation office for a payments technology company to deliver ~$250 million in cost out. Furthermore, Mr. Gass brings the unique ability to run complex work-streams across all functional areas of technology and services businesses, including product/R&D, G&A, procurement, business operations and customer success. He has also run separation planning programs, including strategic carve-outs and SPAC divesture. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Gass served with KPMG’s Deal Advisory & Strategy practice, supporting private equity clients on complex transformation and operational diligence. Before that, he spent 10 years with AlixPartners, working across private equity, TMT, retail and financial services. Mr. Gass earned a bachelor’s degree from the Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas, Austin.
