Argentina

Over the years, GRD had become one of the most advanced tanneries in the country with a state-of-the art facility. At the beginning of 2000, financial problems with its former controlling shareholder led GRD to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, forcing the closing of the plant. In January 2003 CoInvest reached agreements with creditor banks and suppliers and arranged a syndicate of investors that acquired all of the capital stock of GRD. While on-going operational restructurings were driving GRD towards break-even, a sale process was conducted to integrate the company with one of the leading local strategic players. This sale was not successful and the company had to file for bankruptcy protection.
