Renata Cardoso joined XPV Water Partners in 2024, as Director, Sustainability. Renata has over 15 years of leading sustainability and decarbonization teams for both global and emerging industrial companies. Her role is to support XPV and the portfolio companies on their journey to develop their sustainability platform, credentials, management and reporting systems, in line with key stakeholders’ expectations. Prior to joining the firm, Renata worked at Vale, Vale Canada, and Electra Battery Materials, implementing sustainability literacy platforms, corporate policies, performance management systems, and reporting and transparency practices that allow companies to accomplish tangible business results. She has led these companies’ engagement with several global sustainability initiatives, such as the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the United Nations Global Compact, focusing on empowering organizations to take an active role in sustainability solutions and responsible sourcing. Over the years, Renata has guided organizations to leadership positions in sustainability, performance management and continuous improvement. She oversaw sustainability due diligence and assessment processes, led the production of sustainability reports aligned with global standards, such as the Global Reporting Initiative and SASB, and established governance models for sustainability priorities. In addition, she developed decarbonization roadmaps and traceability practices for operational sites in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. Renata holds a Bachelor in Economic Sciences, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and an MBA from the COPPEAD Institute of Administration (UFRJ), including an exchange program with Manchester Business School. She is also a certified Sustainability Practitioner - Leadership from the Center for Sustainability and Excellence (USA) and a Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto) Women in Business alumni. In her free time, Renata enjoys going to the movies with her family, jogging, and volunteering as a mentor for women in business.
