Mr. Weinberg is responsible for the firm's operations and is actively involved in working with the management of portfolio companies, frequently acting as the liaison between the Board and management. He works closely with management to pursue new business opportunities and to set strategic direction and financial goals. Mr. Weinberg formerly co-founded and served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hawk Corporation (AMEX: HWK), a manufacturer of specialized brake materials used in the aerospace, industrial and specialty consumer markets. During his ownership of Hawk, the company grew from one plant with $19 million in sales to 16 facilities worldwide with revenues exceeding $250 million. Mr. Weinberg has also served as Chairman of New West Eyeworks, a 160 store chain of retail optical stores serving the Western United States. The company was built, taken public and sold at a substantial gain to the original shareholders. He also served as Chairman and CEO of SunMedia Corp., a publisher of 46 suburban weekly newspapers. Mr. Weinberg, a well known leader in the Cleveland business and civic community, serves on the Board of Trustees of Cleveland State University, an Ohio university with 17,000 students, and is a Director of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He began his career at a major Wall Street investment banking firm. Mr. Weinberg grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and received a B.A. in Science from Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
