Bio

Marko Dimitrijević is the founder and chairman of Volta Global, a private investment group with investment activities in venture capital, private equity, real estate, and public markets. An entrepreneur, investor, photographer, and public speaker, Marko is the author of Frontier Investor: How to Prosper in the Next Emerging Markets, which Michael Spence, Nobel Prize Winner in Economics, hailed as "brilliant” and “a tour de force.” After accumulating 35 years of entrepreneurial and investing experience, Marko founded Volta Global with the goal of building a transformational investment group around a philosophy guided by its permanent capital base, allowing us to remain flexible, open-minded, and long-term oriented. Volta Global is comfortable investing across a variety of industries and throughout the entire capital structure of companies. Marko spent the early part of his investment career managing large securities portfolios as Senior Vice President for Fortune 500 company Triangle Industries and its successor, Trian Group. Ready to start out on his own, Marko left the firm in 1990 and launched Everest Capital as its Founder and Chief Investment Officer, which he then grew from $8mm in assets to over $3 billion in AUM and 50+ employees in Miami and Singapore. During that period, as a pioneer in conducting on-the-ground due diligence and finding attractive growth opportunities globally, Marko has invested in over 150 countries, including 120 emerging or frontier markets, and was one of the earliest Western investors in China, Russia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Saudi Arabia. Marko Dimitrijevic has been the recipient of numerous awards including "Top 25 Mid-Size Hedge Funds" by Bloomberg in 2014; "Top 100 Hedge Funds" by Barron's for the 3 years ended 2011; "Top 10 Emerging Market Hedge Funds" by Bloomberg in 2010; and"Global Macro Fund of the Year" by Absolute Return magazine in 2007. Marko graduated from the Faculty of Business and Economics (HEC) at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and earned an MBA from Stanford University. He is fluent in English, French, Spanish, Serbian/Croatian, and Portuguese,; and is proficient in Italian and German.
