Brian Schmidt, a Partner of Värde, is Head of the Mortgage Business. He is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Based in Minneapolis, he joined the firm in 2005 and was named Partner in 2017. Brian manages the firm’s mortgage investments in the commercial and residential sectors. Brian’s previous roles at Värde included leadership in both Real Estate and Structured Products. He has served on a number of boards of portfolio companies owned by the Värde funds. Brian led Värde’s work to establish the Association of Mortgage Investors and serves on their Board. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for University of Wisconsin’s Graaskamp Center for Real Estate. Prior to joining Värde, Brian was an associate in investment banking at Piper Jaffray, focusing on merger and acquisition advisory. Brian received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and an M.S. from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
