Dr. Zhichao Xu is the Vice Chairman of CITIC Capital Holdings Limited. He heads CITIC Capital’s Special Situations business, and is the President of CITIC Capital (Ningbo) Investment Management Company Limited. Dr. Xu has profound knowledge and experience in financial risk management, institutional risk management and asset disposal, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and asset management. Prior to joining the company, he was the Chairman of China Trust Protection Fund Co., Ltd. From 2000 to 2014, he held various senior positions at China Cinda Asset Management Co., Ltd., including Director of Legal Department, Director of Market Development Department, Chairman of the Asset Disposal Review Committee, General Counsel, Executive Director and Deputy Chief Executive. Before Cinda, he was the General Manager of Wuhan International Trust and Investment Co. Ltd, Chief Economist of Beijing Vantone Holdings Co., Ltd. and Vice President of Vantone Group, and Deputy Director of The Economic System Reform Institute of China. Dr. Xu holds a Doctoral degree in Management from Huazhong University of Science & Technology and a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Renmin University of China. He studied for a Doctoral program in Economics at Aarhus University of Denmark. He is also an awardee of special government allowances of the State Council.
