Hervé Machenaud is the former CEO of the Asia Pacific division of EDF, and a former member of the Executive Committee of EDF Group. He first joined EDF Group as Deputy Director of Development at the Paluel Nuclear Plant in 1982. He then took charge of the Group’s expansion in China. From 2002, he became Executive Vice President of EDF Asia Pacific in Beijing, where his role was to enhance the Group’s industrial expertise, particularly nuclear, and to ensure it had access to technological innovations in China, Japan, India and the Great Mekong region. He led the joint venture projects in the following sectors: nuclear (Taishan), thermal (Sanmenxia), hydraulic and wind generation in China, Vietnam (Phu My plant) and Laos (Nam Theun dam). Hervé Machenaud graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées. He is also a graduate of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (IEP).
