Mr. Solot is a Managing Director of Torch Lake Capital and has over 20 year of private equity and early stage investing combined with direct consumer products operating experience. Prior to Torch Lake, Mr. Solot served as a Managing Director for AGR Partners, a TIAA-CREF backed food/agribusiness fund, helping AGR open a Chicago office and expand its geographic and segment focus and served on AGR’s Advisory Board. Prior to AGR, Mr. Solot spent 10 years at Wind Point Partners, a middle market buyout shop with over $2 billion of commitments, rising to Managing Director and leading all facets of deals concentrated in the food, consumer, and other segments while developing a strong network of C-level executives. At Wind Point, Mr. Solot served on various Boards including Bakery Chef and Ames True Temper among others. Prior to joining Wind Point, Mr. Solot spent six years at Werner Ladder (Mr. Solot’s family business). Mr. Solot joined Werner in a sales position and moved into sales management to lead Werner’s National Accounts in the Hardware Distribution Channel which included managing a national network of sales reps while holding direct responsibility for key account relationships such as Ace and Truserv. Mr. Solot participated in Werner’s major strategic decisions including business direction, generational transition, and ultimately the decisions to seek liquidity through sale. Prior to joining Werner Ladder was an Associate in Goldman Sachs & Co.’s Real Estate group and spent 3 years consulting at Bain & Co. Mr. Solot holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University with Phi Beta Kappa honors and an MBA from Wharton.
