Tanaka J.J. Maswoswe is a Managing Director focused on U.S. buyout opportunities in the industrial and transportation sectors. Mr. Maswoswe is based in Washington, DC. Since joining Carlyle in 2011, Mr. Maswoswe has been a key contributor to several of the firm’s investments, including Axalta Coating Systems (formerly DuPont Performance Coatings), Signode Industrial Group, Atotech and Nouryon. Prior to joining Carlyle Mr. Maswoswe was the inaugural Toigo Private Equity MBA Fellow at Carlyle. During this Fellowship, he completed a year-long rotation through Carlyle’s U.S. Buyout group, a Carlyle portfolio company, and the Alternative Investment Management team at CalPERS. Prior to business school, he worked as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Diversified Industrials group at Barclays Capital. He also spent a summer during business school at GreatPoint Ventures, a venture development firm based in Cambridge, MA. Mr. Maswoswe received his MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in economics from Yale University. He is a member of the Nouryon and Nobian Boards.
