Takaomi Tomioka is a Managing Director and Deputy Head of Carlyle Japan advising on Japanese buyout opportunities in the consumer and healthcare sectors. He is based in Tokyo. Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Tomioka worked at General Electric (GE) Capital Corporation from 1998 to 2003. While at GE, he served as Director and Representative at GE Equity Japan, a private equity arm of GE. While at GE Equity Japan, Mr. Tomioka was responsible for the investment and management of portfolio companies. He served at the Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan from 1985 to 1998, including nine years of corporate financing in the United States and Japan. He initiated deals for Qualicaps, Solasto Corp. (formerly N.I.C. Corp), Oyatsu Company Ltd., Sansho Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., Meisui Bijin Factory Co., Ltd. (formerly Kyushu GGC Ltd.), and Orion Breweries, Ltd. He is currently a board member at Oyatsu Company Ltd., Sunsho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Orion Breweries, Ltd. Mr. Tomioka received his BA in law at Waseda University and his MBA at New York University.
