Matthew (“Matt”) J. O’Connor is a Managing Director and Head of Carlyle Power Partners. He serves on the Board of Cogentrix. Mr. O’Connor is based in New York. Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. O’Connor was a senior executive at General Electric where he spent more than 14 years. His recent experience with GE Capital included more than six years as a Managing Director with GE Energy Financial Services, the company’s principal investing business in the Energy sector. He was a member of the Investment Committee and led the firm’s Power M&A activity in addition to firm-wide responsibility for its global lending operations, capital markets and investment strategy. Prior to joining GE, Mr. O’Connor spent eight years with Price Waterhouse in various positions of increasing responsibility in consulting, primarily in the Consumer Products market. Mr. O’Connor received his MBA from Columbia Business School and his BBA in finance from University of Notre Dame.
