Bio

Alexander Mears is a Principal focused on U.S. buyout opportunities in the aerospace, defense and government services sectors. He is based in Washington, DC. Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Mears worked in consulting at McKinsey & Co. and in private equity at The Blackstone Group and at Bain Capital, where he evaluated investments in a range of industries. Mr. Mears also served in combat as an officer with the U.S. Navy and as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Mr. Mears has an MSc in economics and social history from University of Oxford and a BA in economics from Harvard University. He is a chartered financial analyst (CFA) charterholder.
