Bio

Joe joined TCV in 2021 bringing more than 20 years of legal, regulatory and compliance experience in industries including global asset management and technology. Joe serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel of TCV’s corporate operations. Before joining TCV, Joe was Chief Legal Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Carlson Capital, L.P. overseeing all aspects of the firm’s back-office functions. Joe’s long experience with venture capital began early in his career, as an attorney with Hale and Dorr (n/k/a Wilmer Hale), where he represented issuers in private and public offerings and advised leading start-ups, venture firms and corporations on a range of transactions. He crossed over to the technology side with Vonage Holdings Corp., where he led the firm’s initial public offering and helped transition the firm from a private to a public company. He came back to the investing side with Sculptor Capital Management, where he was a Managing Director and served as the General Counsel and Secretary to its public entity. Joe enjoys spending time with his family, listening to all types of music, trying new restaurants with his wife and traveling to new cities and enjoying their open-air food markets. He has passed on his love of music to his 5-year-old son who favors Led Zeppelin and already surpasses Joe’s ability on electric guitar. His daughter, even younger, intends to equal her brother’s achievement. Joe received his B.A. in History with Honors from Rutgers College and was a Henry Rutgers Scholar. He received his J.D. cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law and received his M.B.A. in Finance from Seton Hall’s Stillman School of Business.
