Bio

At Sun Mountain Capital, Hal Hayden is a partner of the Firm’s private credit strategy whose primary focus is growth capital lending to expansion stage technology companies. He serves on the Investment Committees of Sun Mountain Private Credit I and II as well as the New Mexico Recovery Fund. Hal has over 30 years of experience as a lender, investor, and entrepreneur in the growth capital and financial services arenas. He has funded and managed venture debt, equity investment and equipment leasing arrangements in the technology sector. Prior to joining Sun Mountain, Hal was a Partner at Trinity Capital Investment, a venture debt and equipment lease provider to high-growth technology companies nationwide. Hal served as a member of the Investment committee of Trinity’s SBIC-licensed funds. Hal was also the founding CEO and Managing Partner at Agility Ventures, a provider of specialty leasing solutions to early-stage technology companies. Earlier in his career, Hal founded Heritage Software Finance, a provider of financing programs for enterprise software licenses. Heritage Software Finance was acquired by First Sierra Financial in 1997 where he remained as Vice President of its Software Finance Division. Hal previously founded Priority Leasing Corporation, a small-ticket specialty leasing company, where he served as the company’s President until its sale to private investors in 1995. Hal began his career as a Regional Account Manager for IBM’s General Systems Division. Hal holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of Arizona and has served on the Board of Directors for the United Association of Equipment Leasing, the Rocky Mountain Venture Capital Association and Lighthawk, a national conservation organization.
