Renny Smith is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Staley Capital and has over 25 years of private equity investing experience. Prior to Staley Capital, he co-founded T.H. Lee Putnam Ventures in 2000, where he led growth equity investments across the digital marketing services, retail IT, tech-enabled BPO, and enterprise software sectors. Renny began his private equity career at Thomas H. Lee Partners in 1990, leading investments in consumer companies including Finlay Fine Jewelry, Thermoscan, Rayovac, and Eye Care Centers of America. Previously, he worked in the Investment Banking Division of Merrill Lynch & Co. Renny currently serves on the boards of Olo, SmartAction, Aspire Marketing Services, and 4R Systems, and as a board observer of SteelHouse. He also serves on the Board of Advisors of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and is the Chairman of the Board of Advisors for Tuck’s Center for Private Equity and Venture Capital. In addition, he is a Trustee Emeritus of Wesleyan University’s Board of Trustees and previously served on Wesleyan’s Investment Committee. Renny is also the former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Burke Mountain Academy. Renny received an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and graduated cum laude from Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Economics.
