Bio

Jeff Hurst is a Partner and Investment Committee Member at Staley Capital with more than 30 years of private equity and venture capital experience across the financial services, communications infrastructure, information technology, and analytical systems. He was also previously one of the firm’s Managing Partners. Prior to Staley Capital, Jeff co-founded Commonwealth Capital Ventures, a leading Boston-based venture capital and growth equity firm focused on early and growth-stage technology companies. The Commonwealth team invested in over 140 companies, with Jeff serving on the boards of numerous key investments including American Internet Corp., BBN Technologies, NBX, Neurometrix, The MacGregor Group, Tungle, Invaluable, and Seahorse Bioscience, where he was Chairman. Prior to his 25 years at Commonwealth Capital Ventures, Jeff was a Senior Vice President in GE Capital's Corporate Finance Group and a Managing Partner at Cox Partners, a private equity firm in Dallas. He started his career with Bankers Trust Company. Jeff currently serves on the board of Invaluable, and formerly served as a Trustee of the New England Aquarium and on Duke University's Trinity College Board of Visitors. Jeff earned a B.A. in History and Economics from Duke University and an M.B.A. from Tulane University.
