Bio

Steven joined Southfield in August 2009 to lead the formation and day-to-day management of Southfield’s mezzanine strategy, and brings over twenty years of mezzanine investing experience in the lower middle-market. Prior to Southfield, he spent 8 years as a Managing Director at Calvert Street Capital Partners, where he co-founded and managed Legg Mason Mezzanine Fund, L.P., which invested over $140 million in 23 companies. Prior to Calvert Street, Steven was a Partner at Canterbury Capital Partners, which managed two mezzanine funds totaling over $400 million. His experience also includes two years underwriting leveraged financings for LaSalle Business Credit, three years as a Manager with Ernst & Young’s Financial Advisory Services consulting group and three years as a C.P.A. at Arthur Andersen & Co. Steven is a member of the Small Business Investor Alliance’s Northeast Regional Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Management from Columbia Business School.
