Mr. Gilbert joined SK Capital as a Managing Director, Head of Portfolio Operations in 2022. He leads the firm’s team of executives focused on maximizing financial and operating performance of SK Capital’s portfolio of companies. Prior to joining SK Capital, Mr. Gilbert served as CEO of Aristech Surfaces, where he led the company’s commercial, operational, and cultural transformation, resulting in financial success and the subsequent sale of the company in September 2021. Mr. Gilbert brings more than 35 years of experience to the position, with extensive industry knowledge in chemicals and plastics. Mr. Gilbert began his career with General Electric and subsequently held numerous positions of increasing responsibility at LyondellBasell, Ashland, and SABIC. While at SABIC, Mr. Gilbert was Vice President and General Manager of the Engineering Thermoplastic Business Unit. As global leader of this $4 billion business, Mr. Gilbert provided strategic direction and oversight for asset investment, acquisitions and joint ventures, product and portfolio management, sales and marketing, technology, and operations. In addition, Mr. Gilbert previously served as Chairman of the Board for SABIC Petrochemicals Inc. and held board positions at both the Plastics Industry Association and the American Chemistry Council’s Plastics Division. Mr. Gilbert earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Grove City College. He is also a graduate of the Tuck School of Business Executive Program at Dartmouth College.
