Bio

John Madden founded Sequel Holdings and has served as its Managing Partner since its formation in 2002. He sits on the Investment Committee of Sequel Capital Fund II and on the board of directors at each of Sequel’s portfolio companies. Prior to founding Sequel in 2002, Mr. Madden worked in various capacities at J.C. Bradford & Co., Bankers Trust Company, and Dean Foods Company (NYSE: DF) and its predecessors and affiliated companies (Kaminski Engles Capital Corporation, Suiza Foods Corporation and Reddy Ice Corporation). While at Dean (and its affiliates), Mr. Madden held a variety of senior management positions including Vice President and Treasurer of Suiza Foods, Chief Financial Officer of Reddy Ice, and Vice President of Corporate Development of Suiza Foods and Dean Foods. Mr. Madden was actively involved in the growth of Dean Foods from the company’s initial dairy acquisition in Puerto Rico in 1993 through its acquisition of legacy Dean Foods Company in 2001. He was instrumental in growing the Dean Foods portfolio from $50 million in sales at inception in 1990 to $9 billion in sales in 2002. Mr. Madden received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Human Development from Vanderbilt University in 1988. He earned his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Dallas while working at Suiza Foods. Mr. Madden is a member of the Touchdown Club serving the Dallas Rise School, and a member of the Dallas chapter of World Presidents’ Organization. Mr. Madden previously served on the Board of 21C Holdings, LP and Worth, Inc., was on the Alumni Board of Peabody College at Vanderbilt University, and was on the University of Dallas Foundation Board of Trustees. He was also a member of the Dean’s International Council for the Harris School of Public Policy at The University of Chicago, a partner of Dallas Social Venture Partners, and chaired the March of Dime’s BWAC annual event.
