Bio

Tom is an Operating Partner at SCF, focused on building European energy transition businesses. He joined the firm in January 2022 and is a director on the Score Group & Hydrasun boards. Tom received a DPhil (PhD) in Engineering Science (Robotics) from Trinity College, the University of Oxford, Tom received an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland. He then worked in robotics research and was awarded a DPhil (PhD) in Engineering Science from Trinity College, the University of Oxford. Tom worked at Schlumberger and McKinsey earlier in his career, after which he attended Harvard Business school, where he received an MBA and was awarded a Baker Scholarship. In 2004, Tom became Vice President for Corporate Development and then Division President of Complete Production Services, where he helped build the company into one of SCF’s most successful investments. After that, he became the Chief Executive Officer and President of LeTourneau, a global manufacturing company in the mining, forestry, and energy equipment business. After the sale of LeTourneau to Joy Global, Tom joined Rowan Companies as Chief Operating Officer before becoming a Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rowan Companies and then Valaris, the world’s largest offshore drilling contractor. Tom enjoys travelling, reading, running, renovating houses and spending time with his family.
