Jean-François Talbot is a Director, Fund Accounting at Sagard and joined the firm in 2022. Jean-François is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day fund operations, NAV calculations and accounting of capital activities for Portage Ventures, Sagard’s venture capital arm. Jean-François has more than 15 years of experience in the finance industry, such as overseeing fund accounting functions, participating in the valuation of complex financial instruments, running day-to-day operations and liaising with various regulators. Prior to Sagard, Jean-François worked as a Manager, Fund Accounting for Innocap Investment Management Inc, a leading dedicated managed account platform. Before that, Jean-François worked as a Fund Controller for Nephila Capital Ltd., a multi-billion dollar hedge fund manager in the insurance-linked securities space. Jean-François started his career at Citi Hedge Fund Services where he held several positions in the fund accounting department. Jean-François holds a Master’s degree in Finance (M. Sc.) from Université de Sherbrooke and is also a Certified Professional Accountant in Canada (CPA, CGA).
