Prior to starting RRJ, Richard was the founder and CEO of HOPU Fund, a US$2.5 billion private equity fund started in May 2008 in Beijing. Prior to 2008, Richard had a 15 years career with Goldman Sachs. Based in Beijing, he was Partner and Co-Head Asia Ex Japan Investment Banking. Richard was a member of Goldman Sachs Asian Management Committee. Prior to October 2006, Richard was the President of Goldman Sachs Singapore. Richard was a graduate of Cornell University (B.Sc.) and the University of Chicago (MBA).
