Matthew Swanson first joined the Ridgewood Companies in 2002, and returned full time upon graduating from Harvard Law School in 2007. In addition to serving as a Senior Managing Director of Ridgewood Private Equity Partners, Matthew is also a Senior Managing Director of Ridgewood Energy, where, as part of the firm’s senior leadership team, he participates in overall fund management, fundraising, strategic direction, and investor relations, and has previously served on Ridgewood Energy’s Investment Committee. Matthew received his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where he focused on corporate, securities, and tax law and was part of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Summer Honors Program, working in the Division of Investment Management. Also during law school, Matthew taught economics to Harvard undergraduates for Professor Martin Feldstein, for which he received multiple teaching awards. Matthew received his A.B., magna cum laude, from Harvard University, where he concentrated in economics and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. While working towards his J.D., he also earned a Master’s Degree (LL.M.) in commercial law from the University of Cambridge, England. Matthew is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey.
