Bio

John Francis Barry III is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Prospect Capital Corporation (PSEC). John Barry also serves as the managing member of Prospect Management Group GP LLC (PMG), a limited liability company that is the general partner of limited partnership Prospect Capital Management LP. PMG is a Delaware LLC headquartered in Florida. John is Chairman of PSEC’s Investment Committee and has been an officer of PSEC since 2004. John has been an officer of PMG since 1990, and the managing member of PMG since 1998, when John purchased PMG. In addition to overseeing Prospect Capital Corporation and Prospect Capital Management, John has served on the boards of directors of more than a dozen private and public portfolio companies, including as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bondnet Trading Systems, Inc. He has also served on the Board of Advisors of USEC, Inc., a publicly-traded energy company. From 1988 to 1989, John managed the Corporate Finance Department of L.F. Rothschild & Company. From 1983 to 1988, he was an investment banker at Merrill Lynch & Co. From 1979 to 1983, John was an attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell. From 1978 to 1979, he served as Law Clerk to Circuit Judge J. Edward Lumbard, formerly Chief Judge, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York City. John served from 1999 until 2011 as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mathematics Foundation of America, a non-profit foundation that enhances opportunities in mathematics education for students from diverse backgrounds. John received his Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Princeton University, where he was a University Scholar, and his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was an officer of the Harvard Law Review.
