Starting in the mid-1970s with First City National Bank of Houston, Steve has had a long career investing in and managing businesses across the energy value chain. ​ He was Chairman of Champion Technologies, which grew into a large international company with over $1.3 billion in revenue and 3,500 employees before eventually selling to Ecolab for $2.2 billion in 2013. Additionally, he was involved with family-run oilfield service companies including Petroleum Equipment Tools Co. (PETCO), which was merged into Weatherford in 1991, and Densimix, which sold to Prince Minerals in 2013. Currently, Steve is Chairman of Athlon Solutions, LLC, a specialty chemical and service supplier that spun-out of Champion and Johnson & Lindley, LLC, a family office focused on a variety of investments. ​ Steve grew up in Midland, TX and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
