Nabeel is the head of International Private Equity, a business unit within Old Mutual Alternative Investments (OMAI). Nabeel heads the International Private Equity Funds programme. This programme comprises a number of global as well as Africa focussed private equity funds and has been in existence since 2007. Nabeel joined OMAI in February 2015 and is a member of OMAI’s EXCO, International Private Equity Investment Committee and represents OMAI on numerous Limited Partner Advisory Committees. He has over 15 years of financial services and operational experience. Prior to joining OMAI, Nabeel spent time as an entrepreneur before joining one of the big four auditing firms where he completed his articles and audited some of the largest companies in South Africa. He then joined one of South Africa’s premier banks, participating in debt transactions across leveraged finance, project finance and balance sheet lending. Thereafter he was engaged by the Mergers and Acquisitions team of Deloitte’s Corporate Finance Advisory business, where he advised on transactions across various industries. He is a Chartered Accountant, CFA® Charterholder and has passed the JSE Sponsor Development Programme exams.
