Mr. Hayes joined NGP in 1998 and serves as a Partner of the NGP funds. He concentrates on NGP’s transaction sourcing and execution as well as the monitoring of active portfolio companies. In addition, Mr. Hayes specializes in transaction support for NGP’s family of portfolio companies, assisting them in accessing the capital markets when external financing is required. Previously, Mr. Hayes was an Associate with Charlesbank Capital Partners, LLC in the fall of 2000, where he focused on evaluating private equity investment opportunities in the energy and temporary staffing industries, and analyzing trends in the leveraged buyout sector. From 1996 to 1998, he was an Analyst with Merrill Lynch’s Energy Investment Banking group in Houston, focusing on merger and acquisition transactions in the exploration and production and pipeline industries. Mr. Hayes received a B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, in 1996 from Rice University, where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa scholastic honor society, and an M.B.A. in 2002 from Harvard Business School.
