Andrew Rear joined Motive Partners in 2021 and is an Industry Partner based out of the London office. At Motive, Andrew sources and executes investment opportunities with a focus on strategy and growth for Motive portfolio companies, through his extensive experience across the insurance industry. Andrew is an independent non-executive director and investor specialising in insurance and technology, with over 30 years’ executive experience. Prior to Motive, Andrew started and led Munich Re's insurtech partnership and investment vehicle, Digital Partners, which in five years grew from a standing start to $500m gross written premium and an investment portfolio above $400m. Prior to this, he led Munich Re's $3bn revenue life insurance businesses in the UK, Asia Pacific and Africa, and was chairman of the software company Munich Re Automation Solutions. Previously, Andrew led the EMEA Insurance Practice at strategy consultant Oliver Wyman. Andrew has a mathematics degree from Cambridge University and is a member of the management board and council of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
