Bio

Miguel Heras is a Founder and Managing Partner at MKH Capital Partners and a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. For over 20 years, Miguel served as Managing Director and member of the Board of Directors of Inversiones Bahía. Based in Panama, Bahía is the largest investment group in Central America, with a primary focus on financial institutions, infrastructure, energy, real estate and the communications sectors. Miguel was the principal architect of Bahía’s investment platform, and responsible for the implementation of high-impact growth strategies in many of its portfolio companies. Miguel has invested over $1 billion in a diverse portfolio of companies, spanning over 20 investments and 15 successful exits. Miguel is the Chairman of the Board of Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior (Bladex) (NYSE: BLX), where he also chairs the Risk Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Clean Streak Ventures, Cable Onda, Gas Natural Atlántico, Sistemas de Generación and Televisora Nacional. Miguel has previously served on numerous boards of fund/investment vehicle portfolio companies as well as in the public sector, including Tricom, Amnet Telecommunications, Cable & Wireless Panamá, Banco Continental de Panamá and the Panama Stock Exchange. Miguel was Minister of the Treasury of the Republic of Panama and President of the Council on Foreign Trade from 1996 to 1998, where he led the country’s privatization efforts and trade initiatives. He also served as Vice Minister of the Treasury from 1994 to 1996. Miguel is involved in many philanthropic initiatives, especially Panama’s Food Bank Foundation. He is also a member of the Wharton School Executive Board for Latin America. Miguel holds a B.S. in Economics with concentrations in Finance and Political Science from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
