As a Partner at Medina Capital, Randy Rowland helps the private equity firm identify companies with disruptive technologies and capitalize on attractive opportunities in relevant technology sectors. His background and extensive industry experience with enterprise cloud, security and big data technology provides the perspective needed to guide Medina Capital’s portfolio companies and their strategic initiatives around product strategy, development, operations, and business development. Randy serves as an active participant and board member for various portfolio companies, providing valuable insight to help them deliver high-value solutions to the market. Rowland currently serves as the President and Chief Operating Officer at Cyxtera Technologies, a Medina Capital portfolio company. Prior to joining Medina Capital, Randy served as Senior Director of Cloud Platform Services at VMware where he led key initiatives to evolve VMware’s “as a Service” strategy focused primarily on Cloudfoundry and vCloud Services. Prior to VMware, Randy was the SVP of Product Development at Terremark and helped guide the company into the emerging cloud computing industry by leading the development and launch of Terremark’s Enterprise Cloud service offering. Prior to joining Terremark, Randy was responsible for Product Development and Sales Engineering at Data Return, a managed services provider that was ultimately acquired by Terremark. At Data Return, Randy led the development of many successful service offerings including Infinistructure, the industry’s first enterprise-class virtualized hosting offering. Randy began his professional career as an Advanced Systems Engineer for Compucom attaining several industry certifications as an IT engineer. Randy received his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University.
