Bio

Marko Maschek combines engineering education with entrepreneurial acumen. He grew up in the greater Stuttgart area and was already a committed employee in the family-owned company during his school days. After completing his military service, Marko Maschek studied electrical engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). This was followed by postgraduate studies in information technology as a scholarship holder at the INSA engineering school in Lyon with a focus on signal-, speech- and image processing. At Cambridge Consultants Marko Maschek worked in consulting and at Robert Bosch in the development of algorithms and software. He also earned an MBA from Cambridge University. At Bosch he patented several developments in the field of automotive restraint systems. In 1997 Marko Maschek started as a project manager at 3i Germany in Frankfurt and later Stuttgart. There he made and accompanied investments in small technology companies such as web.de AG, Actelion AG, Openshop AG and Heiler Software AG, which successfully went public. From 2000, Marko Maschek was part of the team in Boston that built the US investment business for 3i. He became a partner in the USA in 2003 and was responsible for the semiconductor investments sector on the East Coast. In this capacity, he also became a member of the Investment Committee for Venture Capital Transactions worldwide. In 2007, Marko Maschek left 3i to become a founding partner of Pinova Capital in Munich. Pinova was one of the few new management companies to set up its first fund in the difficult economic environment of the financial market crisis. In addition, Marko Maschek was able to realise the first sales for the fund in 2015 and 2016. Marko Maschek reads technical and scientific literature, is interested in history and politics and, together with his wife and three children, enjoys mountaineering and skiing.
