Shailesh works closely with several Madison India portfolio companies to help improve efficiencies and build value. He has over 43 years of experience as an entrepreneur, CEO of a Fortune 500 company, as well as a venture and private equity investor in the U.S. and India. Shailesh is the former Chairman and CEO of Providian Financial, one of the top credit card issuers in the United States, which he built from a small team into a Fortune 300 company. Prior to Providian, Shailesh was an executive with AmeriTrust (now KeyCorp), the largest bank in Ohio at the time. He has been General Partner with Invesco Private capital, Operating GP with WestBridge Capital and Managing GP with Granite Hill Capital. Shailesh has made numerous venture and private equity investments in companies in the financial services sector through his family office and as GP with major venture and private equity funds. Shailesh has served or is serving on several boards in the U.S and India. Shailesh also founded the SJM School of Management at IIT Bombay. He is a distinguished alumnus and serves on the IITB advisory council. He holds a PhD and Masters degree in Operations Research from Case Western Reserve and a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay.
