Spencer is a Partner of LMP and a member of its Investment Committee, joining the Firm in 2007. Prior to joining LMP, Spencer was a Principal at Safeguard Scientifics Inc., a publicly-traded growth capital investor, where he completed over 20 private equity and public transactions. Prior to pursuing his M.B.A., Spencer was the Manager of Corporate Affairs at MicroStrategy, Inc., reporting to the founder and CEO, and he was in the Technology Investment Banking group at Merrill Lynch & Company, Inc. He is a member of the Boards of Directors of Billhighway, Charles Taylor, Engage People, Inc., STP Investment Services and Warner Pacific, and is a member of the Executive Committee and former Co-President of the Wharton Private Equity & Venture Capital Association. In addition, Spence serves on LMP's Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Prior board positions include ALPS Holdings Inc., Foreside Financial Group, H.D. Vest Financial Services, Leerink Swann Holdings LLC, and Worldwide Facilities, LLC. Spencer earned an A.B. degree in African American Studies from Brown University and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School of Business.
