Bio

Gary Sernovitz joined Lime Rock in 2004 and became a Managing Director in 2011 with responsibilities for the firm’s investor relations and business development efforts. He oversees the firm’s fundraising, investor reporting and communications, limited partner co-investing, public relations, marketing, and internal firm strategic development efforts. He also works with Lime Rock’s portfolio companies on strategic branding and marketing initiatives. Previously, he worked in the Investment Research Department of Goldman Sachs where he had primary coverage of the Latin American energy and chemical sectors. Gary is also a writer on business, energy, and culture. Besides The Green and the Black: The Complete Story of the Shale Revolution, the Fight over Fracking, and the Future of Energy, published by St. Martin’s Press, he has written two novels as well as frequent essays and reviews for The New Yorker online, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and n+1, among others. Gary currently serves on the board of Ripple Effect and Touro Synagogue New Orleans. He is a graduate of Cornell University (B.A.) and is based in Houston and New Orleans.
