Bio

Stefan is an Investment Director responsible for partnering with ambitious management teams across the South West of England & Wales. This includes identifying new opportunities, successfully investing in those teams and businesses and then supporting them to achieve their growth ambitions over the life of the partnership with LDC. Stefan is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has over 20 years of experience supporting management teams, initially as a corporate finance advisor and structured finance banker and latterly as a mid-market investor at LDC. He specialises in the TMT, healthcare and consumer and leisure sectors, and has supported teams across a broad range of verticals. Since joining LDC in 2019, he has completed the investment in innovative legal tech group The Barrister Group, led the £18m minority investment in global pharmaceutical development organisation TMC Pharma Services and the investment in Waterscan, a tech-enabled and ESG-focused water management consultancy. He also backed Chris Ormrod and the incumbent team at Cakesmiths, a manufacturer and digital-first supplier of artisan handmade baked goods in a two-year partnership which saw the business increase revenue by 164% and EBITDA by 260%. The exit of Cakesmiths to Oncore in 2023 generated a 3x money multiple return and IRR of 81% for LDC. Stefan also supported the 2019 investment in Plimsoll Productions and LDC’s successful exit to ITV for £131m in 2022 and the £13m investment in digital media agency Hybrid. Prior to joining LDC, Stefan was a Director within NatWest’s Structured Finance business and HSBC’s Corporate and Structured Finance business across the South of England, where he supported numerous private equity buyouts, and capital raisings for listed entities and fast growth private companies. Prior to that he spent 4 years at Deloitte advising private equity and listed clients on M&A, including on the £700m+ flotation of Hargreaves Lansdown in 2007. Stefan is married to Rita and they have three boys, Finlay, Artie and Leo, who have boundless energy. He enjoys the outdoors, whether that be on foot, a pair of skis or two wheels – kids normally in tow!
