Mr. Marino is a Managing Partner at L Catterton. Prior to joining the firm, he served as President of digital resale marketplace ThredUP (NASDAQ: TDUP), where he was responsible for delivering quarterly financial targets, cultivating a world class team, and building a beloved consumer brand. Over his decade-long career at ThredUP, Mr. Marino led all commercial functions at the company including marketing, product, brand, engineering, merchandising, pricing systems and data science. Mr. Marino was instrumental in pioneering apparel resale at scale and growing ThredUP from a small start-up into a billion-dollar public company. Previously, Mr. Marino was founder and CEO of Virgin Hotels Group, a new brand within Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin portfolio. He developed the concept, raised the capital, and primed the business for global expansion. Today Virgin Hotels Group operates award-winning hotels across the US and Europe. Mr. Marino also had direct involvement in the creation of Virgin Money and Virgin Voyages in his prior position as a Managing Partner of the Virgin Group. Earlier in his career, Mr. Marino was a Principal at Venrock, the venture capital firm founded by the Rockefeller family. He worked with start-up founders and helped them scale their businesses through periods of rapid growth. Mr. Marino began his career at Bellcore (now Ericsson) where he led a team of engineers and scientists that commercialized voice-over-IP (VoIP) software technology. Mr. Marino earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, and an AB, magna cum laude, from Princeton University. He was awarded the New York Herald Prize for his scholarly work on the marketing and communications strategies of the executive branch of the United States government.
