Ari Barkan (New York) joined KKR in 2012 and is a member of the Client and Partner Group, focusing on institutional clients in the U.S. Prior to joining KKR, Mr. Barkan was a managing director in Credit Suisse Asset Management performing a similar role from 2009 until early 2012. Previously, he spent 12 years at Citigroup where he held both asset management and corporate banking roles. At Citigroup, Mr. Barkan served as a director in the Citi Alternative Distribution Group, chief of staff to the vice chairman of Citigroup and, for six years, held various corporate banking and management positions in Turkey, Indonesia, Singapore, Mexico, Hungary, and Australia. Before joining Citigroup, Mr. Barkan worked as an oil and gas equity analyst for Creditanstalt in Russia. Mr. Barkan holds a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, and was a Rotary Ambassadorial Fellow at the Moscow State Institute for International Relations. Mr. Barkan also serves on the Advisory Council for the Center for Retirement Initiatives at Georgetown University.
