Mr. McCarthy co-founded Kian Capital and is responsible for all activities of the firm including originating and evaluating investment opportunities, structuring and negotiating transactions, managing portfolio investments, and investor relations. Prior to founding Kian Capital, Mr. McCarthy was a Managing Director and Head of the Middle Market Capital Group with Wachovia Securities. Mr. McCarthy was head of the Investment Committee and managed a leveraged credit portfolio in excess of $1.0 billion comprised of more than 100 primarily lower middle-market borrowers. Prior to Wachovia, Mr. McCarthy was a Partner at CGW Southeast Partners, an Atlanta-based lower middle-market private equity firm with over $750 million of capital under management. Prior to CGW, Mr. McCarthy was a founding member of the Leveraged Capital Group at Wachovia Securities where he focused on making mezzanine investments in lower middle-market companies. Mr. McCarthy has served on the boards of several middle market companies. Mr. McCarthy holds an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a BS in Commerce from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
