Al co‐founded Ironbridge in September 2005. Prior to Ironbridge, from 2003 to 2005, he was a Partner in the Equity Fund at EdgeStone Capital Partners, a Canadian mid‐market private equity group. From 1993 to 2003, he led and held senior management roles at a series of private equity backed portfolio companies, including the leading Canadian online food retailer Grocery Gateway Inc. (President and Chief Executive Officer), Canada Bread Company Ltd., Blocksom & Company (President) and SteelWorks. From 1987 to 1991 he worked for Bain & Company in Toronto, London, and Sydney. Al is the Chairperson of Advance Engineered Products Ltd., AV Gauge & Fixture Inc., and Gesco Industries Inc. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Midland Appliance Ltd., Avena Foods Ltd., GNI Management Group Inc., Alumni Classroom Furniture Inc., MBRP Ltd., Hank's Maintenance and Service Co. Ltd., Dumur Industries, Kore Outdoor Ltd., Handi Foods Ltd., and King's Pastry Inc. He was formerly Chairperson of Trimaster Manufacturing Inc., Eurospec Manufacturing Inc., Gaspard LP, and Frost Fighter Inc. He is a former director of Orbit Garant Drilling Inc., Global Railway Industries Ltd., Demers Ambulance Manufacturer Inc., Frischkorn Audio-Visual Corp, Alliance Corporation, L&C Trucking Ltd., and the Toronto chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth. Al holds an Honours Business Administration degree from The University of Western Ontario, and an MBA from Harvard Business School where he graduated as a Baker Scholar and a John L. Loeb Fellow in Finance.
