Jim Humphrey is the CEO and Principal of Humphrey Capital Group (HCG). He started HCG in 1984 with his brother, John Humphrey, with the objective of buying manufacturing and/or distribution companies and turning them into Premium Companies. Jim currently directs the operations of three manufacturing operations - - Hadley, Soroc Products, and Foremost Electric. These companies serve the automotive, heavy duty truck, and heavy equipment industries. Prior to the current operations, Jim was President and CEO of Nelson Metal Products Corporation from 1984 to 1999. Nelson provided die castings to the automotive industry and experienced a sales growth from $18 million to $210 million and a 41% compound growth in shareholder return over this 15 year period. The business was sold in 1999 for $175 million. The 40 year business experience for Jim also includes leadership positions at Spun Steel, Robin Tech, Arvin, and General Motors. Jim earned a B.S. in Engineering from Iowa State University and received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
