Bio

Greg Maurer is the founder and managing director of Heron Capital Venture Fund, a $25 million life science venture fund, and Heron Capital Equity Partners, a private equity partnership. Mr. Maurer is intimately involved in all aspects of the investment process for these two vehicles, including developing and executing the deal sourcing strategy, conducting business and legal due diligence, negotiating investment terms and managing portfolio companies. Mr. Maurer founded Heron Capital in 2006. Prior to forming Heron Capital, Mr. Maurer worked as a corporate attorney at Schiff Hardin, L.L.P. in Chicago, Illinois, concentrating on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, private placements and other financing transactions. Mr. Maurer previously worked for The National Bank of Indianapolis, where he managed the bank's real estate and branch expansion activities. Mr. Maurer also manages privately held real estate investment companies in Indianapolis. He previously served on the board of directors of SCP Limited, NeoChord and Aptus Technologies, and led Heron’s investment in Scale Computing and IDev Technologies, which was acquired by Abbott in 2013. Mr. Maurer is an owner and co-founder of Arcamed, LLC, a start-up orthopedic delivery system company, and an owner of Veracity Medical Technologies, LLC, an orthopedic precision implant and instrument manufacturer, both managed by Heron Capital Equity Partners. He currently serves as a corporate officer and advisor to both companies. In the community, Mr. Maurer serves as chairperson of the Jewish Community Relation Council’s (JCRC) civic mission initiative and as an Associate National Commissioner and Regional Board Member of the Anti-Defamation League. Mr. Maurer previously served on the executive board and as treasurer of the JCRC, as a Starfish Mentor, as a member of the United Way diversity committee, and as a director on the boards of the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis, Eskenazi Health Foundation, Indiana Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, Indiana University Hillel and Beth-El Zedeck synagogue.
