Bio

Mr. Gert W. Munthe established Herkules Private Equity in 2002. Mr. Munthe is the responsible partner for the investments in Nevion and Linas Matkasse, as well as the exited companies Collett Pharma, Epax, Nille, Pronova BioPharma, Puzzel and Aibel. He leads the Healthcare & Pharma industry group. Mr. Munthe has over 20 years of senior executive and CEO experience. He served as CEO of Alpharma, Inc., a NYSE-listed pharmaceutical company between 1998 and 2000 and as CEO of NetCom ASA, a leading Norwegian GSM operator from 1993 to 1998. Munthe brought Netcom to profitability four years after commercial launch. This was among the shortest time to profitability among the European GSM-operators. When Munthe left the company it was Norway’s 9th largest company in terms of market capitalisation. Prior to Netcom he was Executive Vice President of Hafslund Nycomed, a Norwegian pharmaceuticals and energy group and later CEO of Nycomed Imaging, the pharmaceuticals company from 1988 to 1993. From 1983 to 1987 he worked at McKinsey & Company both in Scandinavia and New York. Mr. Munthe holds a degree in economics and statistics (ex. oecon) from the University of Oslo, and an MBA and an MIA (Master of International Affairs) from Columbia University in New York.
