Bio

Fred works on both core strategies at Hattington, focusing on all aspects of our business. Prior to Hattington, he was an executive with Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (“KKR”) for 17 years, starting his career as part of KKR’s first analyst class in 1995 and becoming a Partner in 2005. He was initially a generalist in KKR’s Private Equity business (developing expertise in deal sourcing, execution and working with portfolio company management teams), later specializing in the Energy & Natural Resources Industry, where as co-head of the Energy & Natural Resources Group, he helped develop and execute many of the investment themes KKR has implemented in this area. In 2007, Fred moved away from the Private Equity business to start a mezzanine finance business for KKR. He spearheaded the raising of a $1 billion+ mezzanine fund (KKR Mezzanine Partners) and built the third-party deal origination function within KKR’s Global Credit Business. Most recently, Fred was the Head of the Firm’s Global Credit Strategies Group which has assets under management across the spectrum of liquid bank loans, high yield, privately originated senior lending, mezzanine financing & distressed credit. He was one of two members of KKR’s Credit Investment Committee, and was also a member of its Capital Solutions Investment Committee, its Credit Portfolio Committee, and its Credit Risk Committee. Prior to KKR, Fred was an executive at Furman Selz, Inc. He has an MBA from Insead (Fontainebleau, France), a B.S. in Economics (concentration in Finance), and a B.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania. He sits on the boards of The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and the Insead U.S. Council and is on the University of Pennsylvania UK Executive Leadership Committee.
