Mr. Hughes joined the firm in 2013. As a Director in the Transactions group, he leads the firm’s self storage acquisitions platform by directing the strategy, sourcing, and closing of transactions and forming joint venture relationships. Mr. Hughes also focuses on the sourcing and closing of transactions and joint venture relationships within the firms senior housing sector. He has been responsible for over $3.5B of self storage and senior housing transactions through the firm’s various closed and open-ended funds in the US and Canada. Prior to joining Harrison Street, Mr. Hughes worked in the Acquisitions group at AEW Capital Management, a global real estate investment management firm. In that role, he was responsible for underwriting and evaluating core, value add and development real estate transactions for senior housing, office, industrial, retail and multifamily properties. Mr. Hughes also worked in the Asset Management group at AEW Capital Management. In this capacity, he performed financial analysis for asset and portfolio managers, communicated with property managers and operating partners, and developed quarterly asset valuations and annual business plans for multifamily and office properties. Mr. Hughes received his B.S. in Business Administration from Babson College with concentrations in finance and real estate. He is a member of the Young Leaders Group of the Self Storage Association and the Babson College Alumni Association.
