Mr. Gershowitz joined the firm in 2011 and began working with Harrison Street at its inception in 2005 as its lead outside real estate counsel. Mr. Gershowitz is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Harrison Street, and he also chairs the firm’s Management Committee and sits on the firm’s Executive Committee. Prior to joining Harrison Street, Mr. Gershowitz was a partner at DLA Piper, where he continues to serve as Senior Counsel. While a partner at DLA Piper, he represented clients in all manner of real estate transactions, including acquisition and disposition of commercial, residential, and industrial property; mortgage and mezzanine financing; workouts and restructurings; negotiating and closing transactions; lease negotiations; and private/preferred equity investments, including providing support for the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate assets in Central and Eastern Europe. As a recipient of DLA Piper’s Harry L. Rudnick business scholarship, Mr. Gershowitz earned an MBA in the Executive Program at the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, where he graduated with high honors. Subsequent to his graduation, he has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Real Estate at Booth.
