Mr. Smith joined the firm in 2017. As a Director in the Portfolio Accounting & Reporting group, based in London, he is responsible for coordinating with joint venture operating partners to obtain and monitor property-level reporting. He also assists with the preparation of the quarterly and annual consolidated fund reporting to investors and helps coordinate the annual audit and tax process between the operating partners and fund auditors. He works directly with Portfolio Management to discuss fund liquidity including investor capital calls, distributions, and general fund cash activity. Prior to joining Harrison Street, Mr. Smith was a Senior Associate at Ernst & Young, working in Real Estate Audit, Transaction Advisory and Risk Advisory. He was responsible for planning and executing audits of financial statements for public and private companies, performing transaction due diligence for both buy and sell-side targets of public and private companies, and performing process improvements over the control structure of private companies. Mr. Smith holds a BS and MS in Accounting from Bradley University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois.
