Bio

Ed McDowell is a Partner and Head of U.S. Acquisitions at GTIS, as well as a member of the General Partner’s U.S. Funds Investment Committee. Mr. McDowell is responsible for identifying, analyzing and executing on investment opportunities and new business initiatives for the firm’s US portfolio, including build-to-rent, for-sale homebuilding, residential land development, master planned communities and multifamily investments. Mr. McDowell’s experience in the real estate industry began in 2003. Prior to joining GTIS, Mr. McDowell was most recently a Land Acquisition Manager for Hovnanian Enterprises, where he sourced and negotiated the purchase of residential land, analyzed investment opportunities and led due diligence teams. Mr. McDowell also served as the Assistant Director of Finance at Hovnanian where he sourced, evaluated and structured corporate acquisitions and helped arrange equity capital for joint ventures with private equity firms. Prior to Hovnanian, Mr. McDowell was an analyst for Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division in both the Mergers and Acquisitions and Equity Capital Markets departments. Mr. McDowell received an M.B.A., with a concentration in Finance, from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and an A.B. in Economics from Brown University. Mr. McDowell is fluent in Portuguese.
